I have a hi-def tv, hooked up to DTV satellite. I don’t want tivo because I don’t want to pay monthly programming fees. Right now, I don’t care about blu-ray or hd play back formats because I mainly want to record from tv, much like using an old vhs recorder. What machines are available, which do you recommend?

tape or Blu-ray RECORDERS? If so, then which ones do (especially those that are much-less expensive than Blu-ray recorders are now)?

And if there aren’t any home HD video recorders like that (again, I mean with HDMI INPUTS, not just cameras that can shoot HD and only record that), whether tape-or disc-based–even expensive Blu-ray, then why not?

If so, then which ones, whether Blu-ray or otherwise (especially much less-expensive than Blu-ray recorders are now, such as a high-definition prosumer video cameras that might have an IN-version of HDMI–mine has HDMI, but only OUT)?

This includes prosumer video cameras that might have HDMI inputs that you can use in VTR mode–my HD video camera has HDMI, but only OUTput. So what about those?

Also, what about any D-VHS that were made late enough to have HDMI INputs (not just the few with output-only HDMI)?

And if not, then why not?
Also, which satellite TV or digital cable TV receivers with DVRs have FireWire/iLink/IEEE 1394 OUTputs?

It says it has a DVB-T tuner and I thought this was a standard def tuner. But why would they put a standard def tuner in a high def recorder. What is the point of being able to record to Blu Ray if what you save on the hard drive isnt high def? It should have twin hd tuners so you can record one channel and watch another

I’m planning on upgrading to a 60″ plasma TV,Amplifier,and Blu-Ray HD player.I also would be connecting 2 powered speakers with built-in sub-woofers and a DVD/VCR recorder.Would getting one of those 8 outlet power centers that sell at Best Buy,etc. for around 2- 3 hundred dollars make any improvement in the quality of the picture and/or sound? If not then would any multi outlet power strip do?

My question is: Can you rip itunes music on a blu-ray disk if you have a blu-ray recorder?

I ask this question because I’m really rubbish with IT stuff. They both look nice of the outside but I don’t really understand the difference internally. They are both similar in price, only one is pink and a bit smaller.
